I'm watching "the Julia Bulette Story" right now. For me, seasons 1-3 are far superior to all the rest. I like the family focus and comradery among the Cartwrights...even with Hop Sing. OK, most of all, Adam was at his finest. Woof!!!

I have to agree, but I would add Season 4. 

 

I feel like the early seasons were more family focused. Although some centered on one Cartwright, all were solidly present. In seasons 4-6 they began to separate the C's, focus on one or two and the other were in the background. Now I'm not saying this applies to every episode, it's just a trend I feel exists. 

 

I also enjoyed the 'historical' stories even though a few were a bit out of sync with history. Guess they couldn't keep that up for 14 years, could they?
