We all know how much Joe loved Cochise...and Michael did, too. 

 

In September 1964, an intruder broke into the Fat Jones Stables in North Hollywood, where the show's horses were boarded and savagely maimed a number of them  some of which had to be put down, including Cochise. Michael offered a $5,000 reward (=$52,250 today) but the culprit was never found.

I always love whenever Joe talks to Cochise - and The Crucible had one of the best of those moments.

 

 

As a bonus, the disconcerting sight from later the same episode of Joe riding Sport. I can't think of any other time the Cartwrights rode a family member's horse.

The Hanging Posse - Joe makes sure Cochise gets plenty of water.

That kicks you in the gut when you see it in that episode.

The imposter Cochise in The Secret. Joe has the only pinto in the area and it makes him a target and the lengths his brothers go to in order to prove it was an imposter pinto.

Joe looks like he feels a little awkward coming up on the Milfords arguing while lying in the dirt of the corral. Cochise? Judging them and I'm here for it.
