Hoss' House of Cards

Featured Replies

I'm losing my mind...

In what episode does Joe walk in on Hoss building a house of cards and (little devil!) does he deliberately breathe hard enough to knock it down??

I'm pretty sure it's Escape to the Ponderosa in season 1

And yes, he does shout/breathe hard to knock it down

Hoss should have popped him one.

Of my three older brothers (who actually behave a lot like these three!!), Jerry (6'4", a gentle artist and with a temper kept on a very low simmer until someone pi$$ed him off!) would have knocked him on his butt. LMAO.

You mean this moment? Definitely "Escape to the Ponderosa."

And I'm pretty sure Hoss wanted to pop Joe one, if Ben hadn't come in before he could catch him.  He tried, though!

I laugh so hard when Hoss finally caught Joe cornered behind Ben's desk and just held him there very tightly while Ben talked. :rotfl:

I wonder if Ben had to replace a lot of furniture when his sons were growing up.

Now that I think about it, that has the makings of a great story.

Here's more research....where it all began with Joseph and furniture! :rotfl:

Keep it comin'!

Here's one where Joe's got his feet up on his desk - though at least it's in his own room, and considering Joe's romancing Tirza this episode, Ben has bigger things to worry about!

By the time "My Brother's Keeper" came around the Magical Ranch House gave him a bigger room!

Door's closed, Pa can't see.

I hadn't seen this one as I don't watch Tirza anymore. Great catch.

Nice desk alcove. Hmm, could that be the peculiar window on the front of the house?

That window on the front of the house seems to belong to everyone in turn, except Ben.

This room was already an upgrade on the one he had in The Truckee Strip

Fair policy! This one falls into the “entertaining but doesn’t actually hold together” category for me. Very probably rock bottom for Joe’s romantic interests. I have a theory that he spent Season One trying to rebel by romancing women his father wouldn’t approve of…then hit a crisis with Tirza when even she couldn’t get an objection out of Ben, so he spends Season Two chasing the perfectly appropriate daughters of family friends.

You make a great point about season one. I will watch that season differently in the future. I love all the insight I gain from talking here with folks!

I love trying to put together plot or character arcs across episodes - which I’m sure were not intended by the show! :rotfl:

I'm certain they weren't! They couldn't ever have anticipated us :rotfl:

@Tavia42 An excellent theory for Joe's romantic romps in Season 1 and 2. Anything to drive Pa to distraction and add a few more gray hairs. :rotfl:
