Remembering Walter Brooke

October 13, 1914 - March 20, 1985

Walter Brooke appeared in four Bonanza episodes.   Viewers might recognize him as D.A. Frank Scanlon in The Green Hornet TV Series and Mr. Clarence Johnson in The Waltons TV series.

 

He appeared in The Graduate (1967) and Tora! Tora! Tora! (1970). 

 

He was a veteran of World War II.

I didn't really recognize his face in the screen cap above, but when I checked his IMBd page, I realized he was one of those actors who appeared in just about every series I watched growing up.   He was the actor who told Dustin Hoffman to go into plastics in "The Graduate."   According to IMDb,  "Brooke confided to his nephew that had he'd known his line about plastics in The Graduate (1967) would have become so iconic, as it did, he'd have invested in them. Apparently the market took off in 1968 because of that one remark."

 

With 224 acting credits, he had quite a remarkable career.
