Clint don't die.JPG

All Ye His Saints, Season 7 (1965)

Little Michael Thorpe's father is dying of an accidental gun shot wound.  Told by their Indian ranch hand that God lives on a mountain, Michael heads into the high country and finds an old hermit who he thinks is God, but in reality is a fugitive.

Clint was born April 20, 1959.  He is the younger brother of actor/director Ron Howard.   His parents were also actors and his father was best friends with Andy Griffith.  Clint began acting at age 2 when he was visiting on set of “The Andy Griffith Show” where Ronnie played Opie Taylor.   Clint was wearing a cowboy outfit and the director thought him too cute to not put in the show.

That short cameo turned into a running gag on the series where Clint had the non-speaking part of “Leon,” a little boy who would catch Barney Fife in unusual situations and offer him a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

When he was 7 years old, Clint guest starred in the original Star Trek series (“Corbomite Maneuver”).  His appearances in Star Trek span a 50-year period:  DS-9’s (“Past Tense, Part II”), in Enterprise (“Acquisition”), and finally in Star Trek:  Discovery (“Will You Take My Hand).

Other Western roles were in Lancer, Laredo, Gunsmoke and The Virginian.

Brother Ron cast Clint in 16 movies:    Grand Theft Auto (1977), Night Shift (1982), Splash (1984), Cocoon (1985), Gung Ho (1986), Parenthood (1989), Backdraft (1991), Far and Away (1992), The Paper (1994), Apollo 13 (1995), Edtv (1999), How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000), The Missing (2003), Cinderella Man (2005), Frost/Nixon (2008) and The Dilemma (2011).

Clint began losing his hair at age 16.  As the “cuteness” factor faded, he made a career out of playing odd characters.   Enjoy this video:

I don't think I could pick a favorite role. He was in so many things. Maybe the Corbmite Maneuver. He does such an excellent job lip syncing.

What a little cutie he was.  That picture of him in the cowboy outfit is adorable.  Clint did a fabulous job as Michael in Bonanza and was one of the outstanding child guest stars on the show.

I had no idea he was the same person who popped up in all those roles.  I can see why he switched to character parts though.  A hardworking and prolific actor.

I remember him from Gentle Ben. Clint co-starred with Dennis Weaver (his TV dad who was a game warden in the Florida Everglades) and Bruno the Bear as Ben. The series ran from 1967-69.

Don't forget his TV mom was Beth Brickell (Emily S10 and A Single Pilgrim S12).

He did.  He actually memorized his lines and spoke them.   An adult male then over dubbed them.   Loved that episode when it first aired and didn't recognize him in Bonanza several years later.

For a William Shatner roast, Clint reprised his role as Balok:

He keeps very busy as an actor (here is his IMDB page: https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0397212/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_0 )

but unlike his brother he doesn't produce or direct. He's actually played in 4 "Star Trek" series: Star Trek, Deep Space Nine, Enterprise, and Discovery.

I think he was a really cute and competent child actor. I wonder why they didn't fix his teeth when he was growing up?

Those 4 episodes are mentioned in original post, if anyone wants to watch them.

Wow! I never connected the adult actor with Michael in that episode. I think he was brilliant in that part and it's one of my favourite episodes. He certainly is a talented character actor and I had no idea he was Ron's brother either.
