By popular request, we look at Hoss as a younger brother this week! Monday, September 14 In The Magnificent Adah, Hoss brings his concerns about Pa and Adah to Adam. Hoss endures older brother's teasing for his story about little green men in Hoss and the Leprechauns.

Monday, September 6 This week we'll look at Hoss as Joe's older brother. Hoss is there on the opening night of Joe's romantic interest's saloon show in The Actress. And goofs around with him like they're both little kids in A Gift of Water.

Monday, August 31 Hoss is in a right hurry! He's got plans today. They don't include listening to, or sympthy for, Ben complaining about long trips to town (again). Mainly to go buck-up his friend Wade Tyree who's become a drunk after being jilted. But your boy has some big ol' plans for that! Namely, the widow Abigail Hinton who just came in on the stage with her daughter Bonnie only to discover she, too, has effectively been jilted.

Monday, August 24 It was recently pointed out that Hoss has that pointy finger just like Ben and what a fun theme that would be for a POD. Wish granted! "Pa told me to take care of you and that's exactly what I aim to do!" Hoss hauls Joe out of a fight (and a poker game) in the saloon in Enter Mark Twain. Hoss warns Joe against saddling him with visiting the widow alone in The Courtship.

Monday, August 17 Hoss examines the poetry book that saved Adam's life before settling in for a read in The Spitfire. And takes a peek at Sam's reading material, surprised to discover its Dickens, in The Trail Gang.

Monday Hoss receives an unexpected delivery from the Yippee Trading Company. She isn't thrilled about it either and calls Hoss an "insufferable stuffed artichoke".

This week, we'll take a look at times when Hoss is a bit more unbuttoned than usual... literally! (Adam isn't the only one with some deep V's.) Monday, Aug. 3: Day of Recknoning

Monday, July 27: The Tin Badge Hoss finds Sylvia collapsed outside when she rides Cochise to the Ponderosa in search of help. He carries her inside with ease.

Monday, July 20 Hoss and the others arrive too late to stop Mr. Malvet and his son from being hung. Later at the ranch, Joe is shooting his gun off and spooking the horse that Hoss is working with, earning a firm reprimand. Culminating in my favorite scene of the whole episode and giving me a much needed laugh today: Ben comes out wanting to know what all the racket is, miffed at the noise while poor Leta Malvet is resting inside; Hoss issues threats at Joe over his "stunt"; and Adam explains that Pa's "baby son" is "playing at stage robber."

Monday, June 22 As was pointed out recently, Hoss has a delightfully scrunchy nose (and face!). This week, we celebrate that. The Burma Rarity-- a well deserved scrunch for Clementine's teensy little desserts.

Monday, June 15 Hoss, Ben, and Joe watch Major Cayleigh Cayley in his hot air balloon. In helping pull it to the ground, Hoss takes an unexpected ride.

Monday, June 7 The Cartwrights take Billy in after his mother dies, since his father is in jail. Ben struggles to reach the boy, but Hoss is a natural. He offers Billy a pocket knife in exchange for chores, giving the boy a sense of purpose. While returning Hop Sing's knife that Billy took, Hoss helps himself to some donuts and gets caught!

Monday, May 25 Joe has Hoss working on his fitness... In some rather intense and bizarre ways in preparation to win $100 at a circus wrestling match. Joe reminds Hoss that he wouldn't be there without Joe's management and training.

Monday, May 18 Hoss uses gestures to enhance his explanation of the mules arriving without the poles (and him). When Hoss gets distracted and causes a mishap, tempers flare and fists fly. Despite an intermission with the mules, things don't cool down until everyone gets a mud bath (and Ben's guest is injured).

Monday, May 11 Hoss' head, and his brothers', pop up like meerkats when Ben comes in looking worse for wear. Hoss tries his hand at sussing out the reason for the injuries. "Did you bump into a limb or something, Pa?" Suddenly needing to tell Ben to slow down is less theory and more reality. Hoss takes the lead with his brothers contributing uneasy smiles.

Monday, May 4 Once again, Hoss has a friend that is... shall we say... needy. Helpless even. Our big hearted Cartwright steps in to help those who cannot (or will not?) help themselves. With a baby on the way (and a colt expected, too) and taxes due, Hoss tries to help Jock find a job. No work at the saloon where Jock is tossed out... Or at the barber's, where Hoss puts himself on the line, quite literally.

Monday, April 27 Hoss reluctantly turns the reins over to Susan to take her and her father to see a stand of timber. Hoss drowns in guilt, taking the blame when Susan is paralyzed and her father is killed on the drive (Ben offers the patented "Son, you've got to let it go," look and speech).

Monday, April 20 Hoss rides in fast, and bursts into the house. "Hot dog! I could smell them biscuits a mile down the road!" He brings back a letter for Ben from an old friend, introducing two "trustworthy" people who will need a place to stay. Hoss soon spots some irregularities going on in the business of these "trustworthy" people.

Monday, April 13 Hoss & his brothers report to Roy that Ben has likely been shot and killed, before going after the men. After learning the 3 suspects each headed in a different direction, the boys split up.

Sunday, April 5 Hoss is confused by the order for one, kind-faced milk cow among the large stock orders until he learns of the new orphange. Naturally, our big-hearted Hoss is happy to escort Sarah the Cow to the "old" spinster and her orphans.
