I was a colored pencil and graphite artist before my current Bonanza fandom days. I thought I would share a few of my non-Bonanza pieces here. I have taught both at our local cultural center. I do illustrations as well as portraits. Faces are my favorite things. Note from the Brandsters, none of these works may be downloaded or used without the express written permission of Marla.

For me to choose between writing, knitting, crocheting, and outdoor photography, it's hard. But if I could do one of them for the rest of my life, I would choose outdoor photography. Why? It gets me outside and away from people for a while. Plus, I get in some exercise when I'm walking and looking for what I find suitable for shooting. A dying flower, a squirrel either on the ground or clinging to the side of a tree, a bird searching for that fat worm to feed its babies, an unusual cloud formation. You seem to notice more things when you're out and about with your camera.

I know that there are knitting machines, but are there crocheting machines? Does anyone know? I did a search and all that comes up are knitting machines. I am doing some serious thinking of getting a knitting machine, for when my arthritis flares up. A crocheting machine would also be a help.

When I get yarn, I I wind it into a ball before I use it. I then put it into those bags that the grapes come in. Why? They make great holders for the balls of yarn. I feed the end through one of those holes and that ball of yarn can't go any place. I know that there are yarn bowls, but those bags allow the convenience of me to take whatever I'm making with me. Also, when working with 3 or skeins, makes it easier to untangle the yarns as you go along. And we all know what a pain it is to untangle those multiple balls of yarn, especially when they have a mind of their own. I use a separate bag for each skein and those handles make it convenient to hang on hook while you're …

Hanging up over my friend's 1870s cabinet.They are 4ft by 4ft.Actual needlepoint-took a long time.

Really enjoying playing around with machine embroidery. I found the horse head and the horse/rider on line then added the words to the picture.

As much as I like making afghans, I have a hard time deciding what kind of edging I want to put on it. A simple looking border or one that looks elegant. I just completed a piece for our kitchen table and am having a hard time finding the right edging or border. How many of you that knit and/or crochet have this same problem?
