I, for one, am glad that April is over! Though May is already getting booked up. I spent the first couple of weeks wiped out due to AFIB. The medicine they gave me for the AFIB made me nauseated. I was supposed to take it with meals which was difficult because I could not eat. I was to take it for a week but I had to stop after 5 days but the AFIB did stop. They put a heart monitor on me which irritated my skin. I did not start feeling like myself until the last couple of weeks. Now in May I already have appointments for a nuclear stress test, cardiologist and cardiac electrophysiologist. These appointments are getting in the way of my lunches with friends! 😅 I …

Are there any other theatre buffs out there? Yesterday, I saw The Roommate. It is about two divorced women who are roommates. A lady from New York, who moves in with a lady living in Iowa. It was a great play. The Broadway show starred Mia Farrow and Patti LuPone.

I saw How to Make a Killing Today starring Glenn Powell and Margaret Qualley. So far, it is the best movie I have seen all year. P.S. I also enjoyed Solo Mio.

I did my best to make sure I had dotted all my Is and crossed all my Ts when I retired. I thought my Cobra insurance was covered. It was not. Now I am having to pay it back. I sure did a stupid thing!

My current read is Accomplice to the Villian by Hannah Nicole Maehrer. It is the third book in a laugh-out-loud series.

Today is April Fools day at least in the states. A time when people play little tricks on others. Since I am having someone come to the house to give me an estimate on work, I sure hope he doesn't play any tricks on me! LOL Cherry blossom season is drawing to a close around here. This always a big event in Washington, DC. Other trees are blooming now, however. The red bud is coming out and soon the dogwood will bloom and azaleas both domestic and wild. It is a truly beautiful time of year here in the mid Atlantic. I have hundreds of daffodils but many are not blooming this year. They probably need to be dug up and separated but I cannot do that anymore. Last Fal…

Some of you already know that I'll participate at the Tahoe Rim Trail Association (TRTA) Annual Thru Hike in September 2016. So here's my story to that.

Hey all, I hope I'm posting this in the right place. I'm putting out a request for prayers/good vibes/whatever you do, for all who'd be willing to lend some love. My bestie (of nearly 19 years) is battling cancer for the second time and it's proven resistent to chemo and is spreading. Her name is Tracy and I'd appreciate it if you could lift her name up in any fashion, or just send positive thoughts her way. It would mean a lot to her, and to me. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart. ❤️

February is over along with all of its ice and snow and super low temperatures. I was walking around my yard looking at what needs to be done in the yard. Now for some unknown reason my hip has decided to hurt. I walked little and did not twist or anything and then spent yesterday afternoon at a reunion at a restaurant where I paid $50 for a buffet lunch! I know winter is still trying to hold on but it will lose in the long run. While I was at the reunion my phone started blowing up with texts. A man in my church who I know very well was killed in a single plane crash. He was the only one on board. A very active man who just came back from a skiing trip out west an…

Well January is over and, weather wise, it was a hard month. The groundhog saw its shadow so winter is here for a while. I don't know about anyone else but I am ready for Spring. I want all of this ice to go away. They are calling it "snowcrete" because it is as hard as concrete. They are using construction type equipment to move it. We had about 3 inches of ice on top of 3 inches of snow. Getting the ice broken is the issue. Untouched areas are an absolutely smooth white ice. I saw a pickup truck in a parking lot with the ice up to its hubcaps. No moving that baby! I am using auxiliary heat because my heat pump is encased in ice plus the temps have been too low…

It is now 2026! As always, there is hope for it to be better than the previous year. I will be with family this day eating our traditional New Year's food. None of us go out for New Year's Eve and it was very quiet where I live last night. Here is to blessings, health and happiness for 2026!

Saw this guy while waiting for the bus to take me back to the transfer station. In my family, it was always a contest between my aunts and mom (I have doubts that she was my bio mom) as to who who would be the first to see a robin. https://photos.app.goo.gl/w3gnL29BDitFUXax8 (I don't know how to upload a photo with these new forum changes. If link doesn't work, copy and paste it. It's a pic of a robin I saw today.)

Because of the energy program we have, we got free weatherization. New insulation in the roof and a new water heater. Also, they replaced one of the bathroom lights with a LED and fan combo. They couldn't complete the fan hook up due to the roof being icy, so they'll be back sometime next week to do it. What we thought was a water heater was actually a water tank. The water heater that we got holds more water than the tank did. You wouldn't believe the mess they made, but they did clean it up. They put down heavy duty plastic to keep everything as clean as possible. They did have to do some vacuuming afterwards. They were a great bunch of guys. Best part is that the …

Such a busy time of year for many, but for some it is a lonely, sad time. I hope we can bring some cheer here at the Brand! The ladies (and one little boy) in my family always go out the Friday or Saturday after Thanksgiving to a garden center that has magnificent Christmas decorations (at sometimes magnificent prices!). The one with the little ones took off after our shopping spree, and we older ones went out for a lovely lunch and back to one house to decorate for Christmas. I do not do that but I did got back to meet the new pup who is about 2 years old. I am not good at decorating and don't really like doing it. I do enjoy looking at the decorations so I will do …

I just wrote a poem in french, that could be a translation in english. Not the rimes, but with the message. This week takes us to the end of the year and the rush into the new one. This is the week when my husband was laying in hospital, we lost him on January, the 5th. ============================================================================================= Your memory speaks to me in the midst of silence When I lay my sorrow upon our pillow, At the warm touch of our two wedding rings, I feel an immense cold awaken. A memory of love weeps at the depth of my grief. The intensity of your fingers closed around my hand, Your smile kisses me beyond the coffin, The joy i…
